Francois Gounod is one of the composers contributing a lot to the new era ofFrench art in the Romantic Period. He made outstanding contribution to the operacreation. Especially, Francois Gounod’s lyric operas including (Francois Gounod,1818-1893) Faust and Romeo and Juliet, which very popular at that time, pass downto the era. Lyric opera leads to prosperous French opera and establishes the status ofGounod, the representative of lyric opera, in the music history of Europe.Gounods Romeo and Juliet is recomposed based on original Shakespeare’sclassics. The opera retains the splendid part of the original story, and adds multiplexmusic elements to enrich the figure in the story comprehensively. A series of studiesare carried out on the core figure, Juliet. The music elements in the opera includingsolo, ensemble, chorus, voice, and band creates the music figure of Juliet morecarefully and comprehensively. Thus, the audiences can experience the glamour andtruth of opera figure more clearly and directly. Meanwhile, the singer can havefurther understanding in creating the figure, which is helpful for the singer to masterthe soul of the figure.
