"I + Let / Call + You + VP" Constructions Resolution

As a typical structure with the word Rang,"N1+Rang/Jiao+N2+VP”, such as"the boss let (rang) you go to Beijing","I let (rang) you eat", and so on, has attractedattention of scholars, but there is hardly research from the perspective ofconstruction. This paper changes N1into the first person "Wo", changes N2into thesecond person "Ni(Nimen)", then we consider that“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”is aconstruction, and try to use construction grammar theory, cognitive linguistics,pragmatics and other related knowledge, to give a comprehensive analysis of theconstruction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”with all aspects of its definition, contextualrelevancy, creation mechanism and motivation and so on, to show the the basicfeatures of the construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”, making efforts for case studiesof modern Chinese constructions.Firstly, we use the describing method of structural linguistics to give detailedinvestigation and comprehensive analysis of“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”synchronically.Through studying language materials, we try to research the form of person, try tofind what kind of words can appear in the position of VP, and then analyse thesyntactic features and semantic features of these words, finally summarize theaccurate definition of construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”, that is, to exress thespeaker`s subjective emotion of banning the other part`s unexpected behavior.Secondly, we do discourse analysis of construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”,mainly study its pragmatic characteristics and pragmatic functions. This paper arguesthat the language environment which construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”is in hascertain particularity and distinct pragmatic characteristics; Its pragmatic functionsmainly are function of anti-expected information, function of subjective evaluation aswell as function of pragmatic negative.What is more, we then sum up threeexpressions of antisense threat in Chinese, forming a pragmatic combination.Finally, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this paper attempts to userelated theory of pragmatic reasoning and context absorption, through the methodof tracing reasoning by Xu Shenghuan, make inquiry of the creation mechanism of the construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”; At the same time, according to investigatethe pragmatic environment of construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”, we find effectsof context absorption and supplement is important movitition of construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”. In addintion, language subjectivity and subjectivizition isalso a necessary movitition of construction“Wo+Rang/Jiao+Ni+VP”.
