While the passive category and the causative category are both relatively special and complex systems in modern Chinese language,“Rang” can be used as not only a passive marker but also a causative marker,but the meaning and grammar expressed are diversely different.Although certain achievements have been obtained in the ontology research on “Rang”,further in-depth research from the perspectives of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and error analysis has yet to be conducted.If learners are frequently unclear about such concepts and uses,they will tend to use typical passive sentences and causative sentences while avoiding the use of “Rang” in both of these two kinds of sentences.The prolegomenon part of the thesis offers an introduction to the research background,the theoretical and practical significance of this research and the existing research results.“Rang” dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States and its meaning is gradually enriched in the cultural inheritance process lasting for several thousand years.The part of speech of “Rang” has also undergone the grammaticalization process.Based on the data collected and sorted out by the author and synchronic and diachronic study on “Rang”,its part of speech,the grammaticalization process and its development process are analyzed and in-depth interpretation of “Rang” from the cognitive perspective carried out.Besides,the research method and the origin of the corpus are explained.The first chapter mainly describes the comparison and differences of “Rang” used in passive sentences and causative sentences from the perspectives of grammar and semantics based on the definition of the verb lexical meaning of “Rang”,so as to show the differences more directly and clearly.In addition,the statistics of the modifiers before “Rang” in “Rang” construction in the corpus are obtained to highlight the form of negation and semantic meaning of each “Rang” construction.The ambiguity of “Rang” construction is also an important aspect requiring the attention of researchers and therefore the methods and countermeasures to handle the ambiguity are also explored based on the research conducted.The second chapter international students' use of “Rang” construction is also studied and the types of errors they make analyzed and summarized gives the summarization of the “Rang” construction acquisition patterns of international students based on the analysis of the questionnaire survey and HSK dynamic corpus study results and the causes of errors in “Rang” construction put forward based on the analysis of the various types of errors in “Rang” construction.Then the meaning and connotation of “Rang” in each sentence is listed according to the specific context and the differences between “Rang” construction and other passive sentences and causative sentences are analyzed by comparing them,so that students can be more efficient in learning “Rang” construction.Chapter three proposes reasonable teaching suggestions based on the analysis and summarization covered in the previous chapter.The principle combining both theoretical and practical significance should be adopted in the teaching activities of the teachers,the learning activities of the students and the arrangement of teaching materials,so that “Rang” construction will be clearer in the teaching and learning process of Chinese as a foreign language,thereby more clearly and directly showing the two linguistic categories,namely,passive category and causative category,to international students.
