In the treasure folk literature of Mongolian, folk stories are very rich in all kinds of motifs, including humorous orphan stories with a unique style and profound connotation of thought. Most of this kind of stories goes through with a series of things of the main character, which are not only in large quantity, but also with wonderful content. After the circulation of several generations, the content of the Mongolian orphan stories turn to increasingly perfect, their plots grow to be much more complicated gradually, and the characters are more distinct, which show the unique style of this special art. The motifs of orphans stories is very similar to the heterogeneous mating motif and animal gratitude motif common in world folk stories. The only different point is that the Mongolian orphan stories have the bright nomadic folk culture characteristics, and thought provoking artistic characteristics as well.This thesis mainly includes the following three chapters. The first chapter is mainly to analyze the types and evolution of Mongolian orphan stories. The author use the AT classification to classify the Mongolian orphan stories, which can be divided into thirteen types including field snail girl type, dog plough type, various birds type and so forth. These types hold the characteristic of Mongolian local stories and absorbed some characteristics of the orphan stories of all nationalities in the world at the same time. Mongolian orphan stories come into being from collective oral creation, transmitted by the broad masses, and absorbed the different geographical, cultural, historical influences in the process of circulation. However, there exists many derivative descriptions because of the emotion and the aesthetic tendency of the narrators.The second chapter concentrates on analyzing the motifs of the Mongolian orphan stories. Mainly analysis the embodiment and deformation motif, challenge test motif, gratitude motif and so on of Mongolian orphan stories according to the culture, histories, production and living conditions and the national spirit of the Mongolian. These motifs includes the profound ideological connotation such as the animal worship, adult ceremony, conception of all things having spirit and human beings get along with the nature harmoniously. These beliefs, ideas and folk custom organically unifies together with Mongolian orphan stories, which forming the unique national culture characteristics of these stories.The third chapter mainly analysis the characters of the Mongolian orphan stories. As an important element of stories, characters show many features and bear rich cultural connotation. There are three types of characters, which are positive and reverse, auxiliary ones respectively, in Mongolian orphan stories. These three characters play a role in promoting the plots of the stories, embodying the Mongolian people’s aesthetic standard and value orientation at the same time. In the thesis, the author mainly elaborates characters’forms categories, characteristics and formation causes of Mongolian folk orphan stories. Revealing the cultural implications conveyed by all kinds of characters to make the readers understand the national character and aesthetic consciousness of Mongolian.Orphan stories are very popular in Mongolian area, and has developed into a representative type of the folk tale. The basic form of philosophical orphan stories probably had germinated in the13th century. After the development of long time, it has turned into a folk tale type with rich content, complicated plots, profound cultural connotation from the initial simple stories highlighting the orphans’ smart. The unique religion, folk culture, the producing methods and way of life full of amorous feelings of nomadic in Mongolian orphan stories is4he most striking part of Mongolian folk literature. Folk literature is the important conveyor and useful communicate tool of national traditional culture. The Mongolian orphan stories are not only the historical portrayal of Mongolian ancient way of life, but also the vivid description of the Mongolian folk culture.
