Non-musical factors in music means the characterization of the nature and human life represented by music score and music sound, embodied in the temporal structure of music, the phenomenon of the "movement", music form, sound imitation, and emotional nature. The Creative approach for the representation of the nature and life in music are foley effects, imagery and metaphor, and the paths of music symbol are abstract, hint and expression. You need to feel the symbolic image of the music by imagination and association. Changing the social life, the cultural representation will also change, which forms historic music. Non-musical factors in music are the essential meaning and essence of music even for a moment. Without the characterization of life and historic, music could not be expressed, explained, understand, and the aesthetic value can not be realized.If the interpretation of music is "decoding", the symbolization of non-musical factors is coding. Music is meaningful, organized logic. Music notation system records the activities of human consciousness, human intentions and human experience, which is the link between the human and the reality, and the symbolization of non-musical factors carries the impulse of life. Concerning the musical morphology and non-musical factors symbolic law, you can work musicological analysis, the image of the music more clearly perception, and grasp the music sound meaning.Exploration of non-musical factors symbolic continued in history. During the1980s to the1990s, following the theoretical tradition of Eastern Europe formalism and Western Europe structuralism, in the West, especially in American circles, the Narrative Studies is becoming a hot trend. Narrative scholars think that the unbalance state generated by opposition between the musical narrative elements is a dynamic source of the deployment process, which is an excellent fit for conventional arrangements of musical events, and has generated disruptive understanding of the relationship of music content and form.Under the influence of various thoughts above mentioned, this paper intends to further thinking about non-musical factors in music. It is divided into three chapters: the first chapter,"Symbolic characteristics of non-musical factors in music", discusses the main path of music symbolization; the second chapter,"non-musical factors symbolic instance", analyses symbolic evidence in program music, pure music, and vocal music in detail; the third chapter "non-musical factors symbolic relationship with the world", discusses the creative techniques and aesthetic value of the symbolic.
