Factors And Developmental Paths Of Cultural Industry In Gansu Province

Culture is the lifeblood of a nation, and also an important support of for nationaldevelopment. It not only represents the spirit and meaning of a Country, but also asymbol of a Country’s comprehensive strength. With the continuous development ofsocial economy, people’s needs will not stop at the subsistence-based, physical level,but will gradually extend to the spiritual level, to improve their content, to enrich theirminds. Such an expansion of the demand market provides a broad platform for thedevelopment of cultural industry. And the gradual development and growth of culturalindustry also promote the economic growth, so we need to keep this virtuous cycle.Especially in the northwest of China, the development of cultural industry has itsmajor practical significance. Making full use of cultural resources in the region, toimprove the less developed economies, is in favor of the economic development ofGansu Province. Cultural industry can further promote the development of otherindustries by extending the industrial chain, can create a lot of employmentopportunities, and also has positive significance in maintaining social stability inGansu province. Thus in the environment of developing cultural industry, and thecompetitive advantage of regional cultural resources, we need to develop our initiateto further develop and strengthen cultural industry. According to that, if we want toachieve transformation and economic growth across the northwest of China, toenhance the “soft power”, and ultimately to achieve the goal “enriching people inGansu”, the development of cultural industry has become a necessity.Though as a great province of cultural resources, the development of culturalindustry in Gansu Province is relatively backward. So, correspondingly, GansuProvince is facing a major problem of how to change cultural resources into culturalindustry. Firstly, in this paper, the interpretation and summary of conceptual theory ofthe cultural industry were elaborated, and thus the status of cultural industry in GansuProvince were analyzed, then we summarized the constraints of cultural industrydevelopment, secondly, there is a qualitative description of the factors influencing thedevelopment of cultural industry in Gansu Province, then the PCA method is applied to extract the principle components of various factors, and have a further quantitativeanalysis. The result shows that each variable except the number of cultural andscientific research institutions, the number of cultural institutions in cultural marketand the number of administrative bodies in cultural market, has a relatively greaterimpact on the cultural industry, which indicates that in the development of the culturalindustry, Gansu Province is still in a fairly early stage. Therefore, there are manythings to do to get a greater room for improvement of the cultural industry in GansuProvince. Thirdly, we propose the specific paths of how to achieve that goal, then,relevant measures should be implemented through the angle of the value chain.
