Modern Land Missionary Activity In China

There are so numerous missionaries in China during almost150years since the missionary Morrison had come to China in1807,activities they did cause far-reaching and complex effect for Chinese history. Scholars began to study and investigate the missionaries who lived in China in the end of Qing Period. Achievements on them also came forth since the modern time,however, it is a pity for little scholars paying attention to economic activities of missionaries in China, in particular, the issues about ownership of land. The issues of land the missionaries in China occupy will be researched with national range and Shanghai in this paper.There are five main part of this article:First, the number of the ownership of land, values and distribution for nearly150years; Second, approach and means of the ownership of land the missionaries in China adopt;Third, the use of grabing land and the reason for the difference of use;Forth, the performance of boycotting ownership of land and the consequences; Fifth, the relationship will be analyzed between missionaries in modern China occupying lands land and urban modernization with Shanghai as the Example.
