Suzhou US Special Animation Department Origins And Development

Suzhou Training School of Fine Arts was founded in1922. After running anddevelopment nearly for30years, it founded Cartoon Department before the adjustment andcombinnation of school in the begining of1950s, or rather the department was set up inSeptmerber1950. The Cartoon Department was the first one of new China. Further more, theCartoon Department was firstly set up officially by Suzhou Training School of Fine Arts sincethe20th Century in our country. Cartoon Department of Suzhou Training School of Fine Artstotally experienced three years for development: in March1950, it firstly set up“film-makingroom”; in September, cartoon department was officially set up; then in1952, because ofadjustment of university and college of the whole country, it amalgamated and recombinedwith other colleges. As the historical material records of Cartoon Department of SuzhouTraining School of Fine Arts were limited, this paper will strove to recover historicalappearance of Cartoon Department of Suzhou Academy of Fine Arts through dictation of itsschoolfellows and classification and integration of related historical material literature to fillin the gap of research toward historical task of Cartoon Department of Suzhou TrainingSchool of Fine Arts. It will lay stress on linking background and political factors at that timeand sum up in its aims of running school and teaching targets. Through the summary of itsmain composition of teaching staffs, course setting and teaching methods, the paper will dugout problems and adoptability of teachers in Cartoon Department of Suzhou Training Schoolof Fine Arts in the aspect of bringing up cartoon talents. From those problems, we could alsopry into problems existing in earlier cartoon foundation teaching in our country, gains andlosses of cartoon teaching of Cartoon Department of Suzhou Training School of Fine Arts andits influence to cartoon education career of New China.
