Tang Dynasty Mothering And Related Issues

Visiting-parents system is essential content of political systems in ancient China, and it was one part of national run system in Tang Dynasty. Some similar phenomenon of visiting-parents had happened before Tang Dynasty, while there was no formal visiting-parents system. Actually, visiting-parents system was not legalized until Tang Dynasty. Although the researches on visiting-parents system and related issues have achieved certain success, unfortunately, they failed to demonstrate the visiting-parents system in Tang Dynasty from a overall perspective. Therefore, this paper will analyze the visiting-parents system and related issues from a comprehensive perspective so as to make it easy to have understanding on the phenomenon, subject and influences of visiting-parents in Tang Dynasty.The introduction of this paper consists of four aspects. The first one is the academic and social significances of visiting-parents.The second one is Literature references of visiting-parents and its related issues. Following this, it will definite visiting-parents. And,the basic structure and writing methods will be introduced with brief words in the fouth part.The body of the paper is consisted of three chapters. The basic contents including its situation, system, reasons and two methods of visiting-parents in Tang Dynasty will be introduced from in chapter one. The chapter two will illustrate the different ways of four basic visiting-parents groups including scholarS,officials, monks and nuns, and the female in Tang Dynasty, which can reflect different social conditions. On one hand, the rulers would make all classes highlight the human relations through advocating filial piety in order to achieve the aim of keeping people faithful in the unified, prosperous and stable Tang Dynasty. On the other hand, visiting-parents methods of different classes reflect different psychological condition, specifically, scholars were likely show off their fame and honor, officials could balance the loyalty and filial piety through visiting-parents, monks and nuns would absorb the idea of balancing three religions, and the female had to visit parents with the restraint of "manners". However, any visiting-parents group can show their filial piety for parents. The significances of visiting-parents will discussed in the last chapter from two aspects. To be specific, one is the development of poems about visiting-parents has been promoted from the cultural viewpoint,which become the main contents of Tang Dynasty, and the attitudes on visiting-parents of poets can be understood from their poems; the other is that visiting-parents system of Tang Dynasty is helpful for forming and development of later systems from the institutional viewpoint.Finally, certain revelations for nowadays living through analyzing visiting-parents and summarizing visiting-parents experiences in Tang Dynasty will be put forward in the conclusion of this paper.
