Bildungsroman writes about personal growing experience, in which one’s mental condition during growth is presented. Those authors who had experienced the Cultural Revolution, showed their individual life forms in the historical context. This paper took "Bildungsroman under the background of Cultural Revolution" as research object, discussing those novels’characteristics and causes of them.Depressive political atmosphere during Cultural Revolution period caused some individual traumatic psychological diseases. Ranging from external political events to the corresponding potential way of thinking, it all helped to structure the growing individual’s psyche. Growing individuals witnessed adult violent,"denounce" scene, shocked, and then turned to analog adult violent struggle, become violence giver or subcontractors. Encountered with "reactionary posters" event, experienced the political terrorist, one’s outlook of right and wrong has been confused. After experiencing the "decentralization" event, it is both difficult for them to agree with the values represented by cities, or to return to the village. At this time, mental cracks experience bred. By performing or watching revolutionary model operas, growing individuals’sexual consciousness can exists legally. Since mental conditions provided expectation for individuals’pure political identities, some misunderstands developed in growing individuals’self-identities."Bildungsroman under the background of Cultural Revolution" formed plaintive growth narrative morphological characteristics, presenting specifically as unfinished main spirits. Groups "individual" I behavior is subject to "our" ideological discipline, individual and independent personality cannot be developed; The heroes in various stages of growth caught in identical, emotional and other life confused, bewildered spirit; initially discovered humanity dark and complex society, they are also facing a difficult value choice of stick or retreat.The main spirit being uncompleted led to growth narrative characters by the following reasons. First of all, the writers were too concerned about the Cultural Revolution, growth narrative was restrained by historical reflection discourse, text focused on the growing traumatic experience, the main spiritual growth is blocked. Secondly, the growing story lacked a sense of future, indulged in sentimental, retreating room. In addition, the growing narrative cancelled the growing significance of individual mental transmutation caused by such spiritual events, enlightenment experience were replaced by a detailed description of real events. Thus, the individual mental growth was stagnant.Such kind of Bildungsroman research has great significance of literary meaning. It combined national disaster history and personal spiritual growth, leads to an innovative theme. Bildungsroman’s concepts and characteristics has not been defined, its producing can inspire the creation of narrative mode, and narrative form level bring inspiration to the generation of theory, result in some significances in theory formation. However, the growth narrative cannot go beyond the issue of the historical suffering and insufficient narrative depth of the problem, which needs writers to make further efforts in terms of mental resources and narrative art treatment.
