Prokofiev's "C Major Piano Sonata IX" Playing Research

Piano music is one of the important area of Sergei·Sergeyevich·Prokofiev’smusic creation, in which the creation of9piano sonata is the clue of the composer’swhole life. The Ninth Sonata is honored as the Sergei·Sergeyevich·Prokofiev’s‘swan song in sonatas’.The work combines the music Creation style of returning tonature of the composer and unique artistic creation method of youth, which highlightsthe creation idea-‘sublimation of simplicity’ that are pursued bySergei·Sergeyevich·Prokofiev. This thesis mainly study the ninth sonata withreference to the ‘4lines’ of composer’s music creation:1. Classic line,2modern line,3Toccata line,4lyrism line. Through the study of the structure, theme, content andand performing technique, the ‘returning’ and ‘synthesis’ of the composer’s old-agecreation of music are identified. The composer remains the maturity but personalizedharmony language while he is resetting his lyrism genre. The key point of this paper isto design and demonstrate the entirety and emphasis of the performance of the wholework which is based on the analysis of the content of music and performingtechniques.
