Xie Wuliang’s "History of Chinese Philosophy" is the first systematic philosophyhistory book that clearly named by "History of Chinese Philosophy", but it hasn’t causedenough attention for a long time."History of Chinese Philosophy" as the core, combinedwith the special history writings of the other philosophers and genres, together composedXie Wuliang’s unique and relatively complete theory of philosophical history.This article started from the academic theoretical background of Xie Wuliang,elaborated the formation background of Xie Wuliang’s viewpoints of the philosophicalhistory and research methods and the basic content of his theological works. Analyzed XieWuliang’s viewpoints of the philosophical history from its definition to philosophy andbasic framework of the history of philosophy, etc. and compared Xie Wuliang’s viewpointsof the philosophical history with Hu Shi’s and Feng Youlan’s. From the analyzed methodand comprehensive method two perspectives to explore Xie Wuliang’s research methodsfor the theory of philosophical history. Finally the article summarized the influences of XieWuliang’s viewpoints of the philosophical history and research methods, and itscommentary in the academic fields, thus gived its value and shortage new appraisal.As the early important results in the study of Chinese philosophy in modern times, thevalue and influence of Xie Wuliang’s theory of Chinese philosophy is very important andirreplaceable. Researching for Xie Wuliang’s viewpoints of the philosophical history andresearch methods has important value and significance for the comprehensiveunderstanding on the formation and development process of Chinese philosophical historyand further prefect the discipline system construction of Chinese philosophy.
