Hegel discussed the natural beauty and artistic beauty in his "aesthetic",and discussed the artistic creation as well as the type of art. In the entire aestheticthought,"mind" is an important concept, and the spirit and core of his aestheticthought. Hegel believed that because of the factor of the mind,"Beauty is the sensibleappearance of idea”; because of the participation of mind, the artistic beauty appeares. This paper argues that throughout the entire aesthetic system, an important concept ofthe Aesthetics thought is the mind. In natural beauty and artistic beauty, as well asvarious type of art form, a brilliant mind flashes. The mind pursues its owndevelopment at the same time, and ultimately pursues to the absolute freedom, whichis the affirmation of the spirit of freedom and human value. This paper discusses four aspects, from the mind and idea, artistic beauty, artisticcreation and freedom. First of all, it discusses the relationship between the idea andthe mind from the concept of "idea", because another important concept is the idea.Clarifing the idea and mind can be a more accurate understanding of its aestheticideology. Mind and idea have a common characteristic, and the mind is embodied inthe idea. Second, it discussses the mind and artistic beauty and artistic creation.Because of the role and involvement of mind, artistic beauty beyond the naturalbeauty, and because of the inner mind, artistic beauty becomes eternal beauty. Thegeneration of artistic beauty can not be separated from the main body of the artist’screation. Because of the freedom of mind, the artist presents a beautiful work in thecreative process. Finally, the mind continues to move toward freedom in such aprocess of development. The process is from idea through natural beauty to the artisticbeauty. Freedom is a feature of mind. Because of its freedom, mind achieves to theabsolut freedom. The paper’s conclusion is that: Hegel’s attention and affirmation tomind is the essence of aesthetic spirit and the kernel in the aesthetic, and high praiseand affirmation to mind is the clue through aesthetic thought. Hegel’s "mind" has"idealism" component, but ideological value is worthy of recognition.
