As one of the greatest philosophers in the history of Western philosophy,Hegel’s depth and breadth of his thoughts are obvious. His era is an era of "freedom and reason",and his works must reflect implicitly or explicitly the spirit of this era.In his vast philosophical system,it is difficult to find that any concept is at the center of its philosophical thinking as the concept of "freedom".Hegel’s concept of freedom is systematic and complete. We believe that his early work Ph?nomenologie des Geistes must contain the basic status of its concept of freedom in the late mature philosophical system. In addition,we also believe that the concept of "freedom" is the development of the "science of experience of consciousness".In Hegel’s view, the "living substance" is truly the subject, but it has established its own movement. The truth is not only manifested in the beginning but also in the process and the result, and the beginning is the purpose. The final result of Ph?nomenologie des Geistes is that it describes the formation of general science or knowledge.Hegel regards pure self-consciousness as the ground and base of scientific knowledge, and demonstrates the development of science as the spirit of reality: consciousness,self-consciousness,reason,spirit and absolute knowledge. We believe that the free nature of the spirit and the transcendence(freedom)of the individual’s self-consciousness are the driving force for the development of the spirit’s own movement. Therefore, the unity of "highest freedom" and "reliable knowledge" is included in the process of the formation of science and the final form of science. The logical thinking clue of this thesis is to clarify the process in which the freedom of self-consciousness rises with knowledge. In the first chapter, the author sets forth the germination of freedom in the stage of self-consciousness,the initial form of freedom formed by self-consciousness: stoicism, skepticism and the unhappy consciousness. In the second chapter, the manifestation of freedom in the rational stage is discussed, the author illustrates the relationship between freedom and observational reason, practical reason, individuality in and for itself. In the third chapter, the manifestation of freedom in the spiritual stage is discussed, the author illustrates the changing and developmental process of freedom in the ethical world, the cultural world and the moral world. In the fourth chapter, the absolute spirit as the manifestation of freedom is treated, the author shows that religion itself is the reality of freedom.Absolute knowledge is the unity of the highest freedom of self-consciousness and its own reliable knowledge, and freedom completes itself in history. The conclusion outlines Hegel’s views of freedom in Enzyklop?die der philosophischen Wissenschaften im Grundrisse and makes some comparisons.
