Taking the work image of Du Mu as the theme of literary creation emerges like an endless stream in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. This paper collects and grasps the general idea of the image related to Du Mu appearing in Song and Yuan literature and then observes the image evolvement of Du Mu. Finally, it will be carefully analyzed based on detailed text reading to present why his work image becomes a literary phenomenon and to explain the value of its beauty. This article conducts the research from the following aspects.The introduction part describes the origin of the topic, and gives a brief review of the present research status of Du Mu, furthermore, it has a quite comprehensive description of the problems and the research in accepting of the image of Du Mu. Also it explains the research ideas, methods and significance of the subject.The first chapter mainly discusses sources of the subject matter of the image of Du Mu in literature subject in Song and Yuan Dynasties, it mainly originates from two aspects:one is Du Mu’s self-image in his different life stages; the other is the records about Du Mu in all kinds of historical materials in Tang Dynasty and the five dynasties.The second chapter is about the spread and acceptance of the image of Du Mu in the literature in Song Dynasty; first it studies the distribution of subject and content of the image of Du Mu in Song poetry, and the distribution of the author. And it narrates the funny musical dramas and novels in Song Dynasty that relates to the image of Du Mu. Next it conducts a detailed analysis of the image of Du Mu in different style of literary works; there are mainly three types of image:famous,admirable,missing Qi Mountain. At the same time, it makes a case study on the image of Du Mu in the poetries of Su Shi and Lu You, which is the case study of individual recipients.
