Mao Zedong Thought Music

This article carries on the outline of Mao zedong’s literary thought, and analyses its era background, practice basis and individual factors. And it outlines the works and music development direction after the "Yan’an literature and art symposium speech""Talk to music workers" is introduced and the specific understanding of it is given. Then, in this paper, the political and cultural aspects of Mao zedong’s thought in music are studied, including policy embodiment of opera after the founding of our country, the reform about drama, person, system, the implementation of the policy of "innovation" and the creative climax during "Great Leap Forward" period. Finally, this paper introduces the cultural revolution period of the opera and the embodiment of the extremes of literature and art. It analysis the cause of "Hai rui dismissed from office" in the historical turning point, reveals extreme impact on the drama during the cultural revolution, and introduces of the release of "The Gardener’s Song" and recorded a costume play, etc. This paper corrects misunderstandings about the idea of modern society towards Mao zedong’s thought on music, and appreciates the Mao zedong and his music thoughts.
