Yan'an Pagoda Hill Resort City Logo Design Study

With the rapid development of economy and great improvement of life standards, people prefer a more personalized and versatile way rather than a monotonous and traditional way in travelling consumption. Tourists tend to pay more attention to service itself and the functional meaning of signs in the visiting sites. Despite the fact that faculties in the visiting sites are putting more and more emphasis on the sign system, there still exist some problems like signs in different visiting signs are similar to one another. This is attributed to the lack of local features.The Pagoda Mountain in Yan’an is one of the most well-known visiting sites in China. It combines natural landscape and cultural relics. This thesis mainly discusses the way to design signs in the Pagoda Mountain, considering the topography and the sign system. The systematic and standardized sign designing is also presented. Moreover, the categorization and component elements of the sign system are also involved in this thesis.Interview and questionnaire are adopted in thesis to probe into the tourists’ needs and the current situations of signs in the Pagoda Mountain. With the combination of theoretical references and practical research and on the foundation of referring to the sign system in other disciplines, the author conducts this innovative research and perfects the theory of sign designing, with the ultimate aim to solve the practical problems in the designing of signs in visiting sites.
