Au bord de l Eau and Chanson triste are the representative works of melodies Francaises. The authors of these two are Faure and Duparc respectively, who are the representative figures and the leaders of the melodies Francaises creation in the second half of the19th century. Their creating styles are different with a distinct style of France. Faure’s music style is pure, fresh, elegant and gentle, and he is good at descriptive music language; while Duparc’s music style is more dramatic and emotional, and he gives music a sensibility through combining colorful harmonic changing with dynamic and speed. By comparatively analyzing the music styles and singing methods of these two compositions, it helps people fully understand the styles and song sings of these two composers in order to offer reference for singing and learning melodies Francaises later.
