Le Clezio Fiction Fable Study

Based on Benjamin’s theory of allegory, this paper focuses on the study of Le Clezio’s allegorical fiction. Relying on the allegorical properties demonstrated in Le Clezio’s fiction,the paper further explores the characteristics of his allegorical fiction and creation sources of the allegorical properties from his allegorical fiction.The innovation and the key focus of the paper is demonstrating the allegorical properties of Le Clezio’s allegorical fiction by using Benjamin’s theory of allegory.The body of the whole paper is divided into four parts:The first part mainly focuses on the theoretical support of the Le Clezio’s allegorical fiction. The reason why this paper selects Benjamin’s theory of allegory as the theoretical support for the analysis of allegorical properties in Le Clezio’s allegorical fiction is that the two fit in identity and salvation. The foundamental properties of the allegories in Benjamin’s theory of allegory can be generalized as depression, fragmentation and salvation.The second part demonstrates the allegorical properties of Le Clezio’s allegorical fiction. Supported by Benjamin’s theory of allegory this part argues the allegorical properties of Le Clezio’s allegorical fiction. The depression is manifested as mental depression and sadness of the atmosphere, the fragmention is manifested in language fragment and structure disorder, while the salvation is manifested in the despair of ruins and desire for salvation.The third part mainly argues the characteristics of Le Clezio’allegorical fiction. Those characteristics is reflected in three aspects:the theme, the topic, the writing style. The theme, which often traces back to the family history for the origin of his creation; the topic, which often concerns the lost Civilization; the writing style, which often demonstrates of fragmented structures and beautiful languages.The fourth part explains the causes of the allegorical properties from his allegorical fiction. The living experience as a world citizen, the dual shock a modern people feels from two civilizations, the salvation awareness a thinker owns are all the causes of Le Clezio’ allegorical fiction.
