Comedy Research Dario Fo Political Satire

The recipient of the1997Nobel Prize in Literature, Dario Fo is a prolific author. His comedies are rich in contents and multiple in forms. As "the Mass Bard", Dario Fo always takes up the standpoint of masses to accuse the darkness of capitalist society firmly with incisive writing, plentiful sensibility and quick-witted language.Political satiric comedy is the representative in Dario Fo’s comedies. In addition, this article mainly discusses about the contents and forms of political satiric comedies written by Dario Fo which on the basis of five versions of Chinese translation. At the same time, the article analyses the attention in Fo’s works that paid to human being and strives to achieve a few beneficial complement.The main body of this article is mainly divided into four parts:The first part is the historical inheritance of the political satiric comedies by Dario Fo. This part reviews Italian political satiric comedies and summarizes Dario Fo’s writing background. By this means I’d like to uncover the inheritance of Dario Fo’s works.The second part is the core connotation of Dario Fo’s political satiric comedies. The discussion on the equal dignity and strong social criticism is aimed to emphasize the human nature in his works.The third part puts the centre on the types of characters in Dario Fo’s political satiric comedies. Cops, noblemen, women and the mentally disturbed are always be the four main types of characters in Dario Fo’s comedies. This part shows the irony of Dario Fo’s works by the four main types of characters’words and behaviors.The forth part talks about the artistic expressions of Dario Fo’s political satiric comedies. Absurd plots and characters’appearances, irrational factors and improvisational means are the artistic expressions of Dario Fo’s comedies. This part clarifies the diversity of artistic expressions in his works by analyzing these three aspects.
