Stephen Chow's movies are quite popular in the Chinese filmdom. As purely commercial and so-called laugh-make film, the Wulitou (non-logic) comedy was ever sneered and criticized. But any type of culture is substantive and complementary to others. That is to say, what we need for is to get revelation from the research of Wulitou (non-logic) movies, and reinforce the already-existed comedy culture by the new art. This thesis will probe and discuss the comedy concept of Wultitou (non-logic) movies, such as Subjectivism of Comedy, Character Comedy and Verbal Farce, and reveal the significant supplement for comedy films of the Inland, which focus on the objectivism of comedy and sociopolitical problems. There are three parts in this paper. The first one is to study the comedy concept of Hong Kong Wulitou (non-logic) movies, which roots in the resource of modern Chinese subjective comedy. The second one is to demonstrate verbal farce in Chow's movies and discuss the significance to contemporary Chinese comedy films. The last one is to meditate all the Chinese comedy culture, including that of both Hong Kong and the Inland, through analyzing Wulitou (non-logic) movies' gain and loss in the international communication of films.Chow's movies are very different from the traditional comic films, and there's no frame of reference to appraise them. But their new comedic traits supply the orthodox comedy culture and renew the Chinese comedy film.
