With the development of the emerging electronic media, The traditional paper books is suffering a lot. While under the impact of emerging electronic media the graphic design of paper books does’t get any improvement. The market is still full lots of rash and gingerbready designs. At present, the area of traditional books is longing for the injection of new new design theory to provide guidance for the designers to make intuition and intellectual designs, the theory of visual perception of dynamic properties of Arnheim is a theory that focus on the intuition of visual perception, and at the same time group and combination theory also put its core at the intuition of visual perception. This dissertation is trying to apply these two theory to the field of book design, In this article, the author trying to analysis the methods of book design with the help of the theory of visual perception of dynamic properties of Arnheim and the thinking of group and combination theory. Trying to find some methods to give help to book design. In this article the author trying its hard to analysis the relationship between simplify and Inverse-simplify and how the Figurative imagery and astract imagery impact the book design. And also how the thinking of group and combination merge the "shape"and "image" through balance the book itself and its environment. Finally, the author illustrates the specific design practices of the relevant rules of the dynamical theory of how to apply visual perception form grouping portfolio thinking to guide specific design.
