Accordion plays a very important role in the numerous Chinese musicalinstruments because of its beautiful sound, wide volume range and powerfulperformance. After the rapid development of nearly half a century, it has become oneof the most popular musical instruments and has made remarkable achievements inthe field of performance, teaching and national music culture. As a consequence,Chinese accordion is in a period of vigorous development.Mr. Wang Yuping, who is a famous accordion educationalists in China has taughtaccordion for more than50years. He is not merely educated a lot of accordionperformers and educators, but also led the accordion into professionalization.Simultaneously, he was the primary person who introduced the free bass accordioninto China while promoting its development that is not only broadened the scope ofaccordion performance, but also gained a huge progress in the process of reached theinternational level. Moreover, during the period of reform and opening, Mr. WangYuping invited the foreign professionals for many times to prompt the academicexchange and held the international competition that plays a significant role in thedevelopment of the accordion. Further, he is not only made a contribution to thedevelopment and the education of accordion, but also has many popular outstandingworks in the field of musical creation.This paper will illustrate that Mr. Wang Yuping’s contribution to the progress ofthe Chinese accordion into4chapters.The opening chapter introduces his life and his artistic career. Next, it reviews his study process. Simultaneously, it indicates his accordion campaign during the periodof social unrest in the1960s as well as his teaching work after the period of reformand opening that made a huge contribution to the development of Chinese accordioncareer.The second chapter shows the analysis of Mr. Wang Yuping’s work of art. To bespecific, it shows a comprehensive analysis of four music works-"Song ofpastoral","A harvest year","Spring in Liangshan","Song of drivers" from the threeaspects of creation background, ontology of works, creation characteristics of worksand playing tips, therefore to better understand the connotation of the works.The third chapter describes that Wang Yuping plays a positive role in the field ofleading Chinese accordion towards specialization through introducing the free bassaccordion and organizing academic activities of accordion.rAt last, the fourth chapter presents the accordion teaching with Wang Yuping.Specifically, it explores the real meaning of enlightenment and guidance of teachingin the university that mainly around Wang Yuping’s teaching ideas.
