Wu Guanzhong plays a decisive role in Chinese painting.With his strongnational feelings and his oversea experience in France,he became an art mulatto,and he devoted his whole life to explore the fusion of Chinese and Western art.This paper is about his oil painting, combined with the life experience of WuGuanzhong and artistic view on the fusion of Chinese and Western art in the oilpaintings Wu Guanzhong.This paper is exploring from the life of Wu and cultural background, writingfrom his poor childhood, to his first time to accept the enlightenment of art. Thenhe abandoned engineering specialty to persue art. He held the first soloexhibition.He went to study in France with public expense. He became a teacher inChina Central Academy of Fine Arts and then in Department of Architecture ofTsinghua University and in The central Academy of Fine Arts. After the culturalrevolution he returned to work, then he held a series of exhibitions.Then the paperwrites about Wu Guanzhong’s painting creation practice with hisChinese culturalbackground, which explores oil painting themes of Mr. Wu Guanzhong, includingboth scenery and also the figures. The chapter dicusses southern region of riversand lakes landscape painting, and then about the formal beauty of his works bycombining the concrete works, and about his view that the expression of thoughts,feelings can only rely on forms; the last part is about the oil painting practice ofWu Guanzhong using Chinese painting techniques. The existence of his works infront of us today was firstly from his Oriental feelings and Chinese culturebackground.The third chapter writes the painting art view of Wu Guanzhong whichincludes the fusion of Chinese painting and Western painting. The first part isabout that Wu Guanzhong thougut that the illusion in painting from life wasimportant, and his view that the aesthetic feelings brought by painting experienceis very important. Then the chapter writes about for the creation of oil painting weshould try to choose the right effect picture scene from the wrong. The nature ispersonified in his paintings, including the feelings of author. Finally, the chapter writes about the artistic conception of his oil painting works.The fourth chapterwrites about the relationship between his Chinese national painting aesthetics andhis oil painting. This chapter is divided into two parts, the first part writes that thenational drawing esthetics thought of Wu Guanzhong supports his oil paintingcreation, and the second part discusses although the artistic creation is differentbetween China and the west, the art thinking is the same, is to express thesubjective emotions of the creator. The fifth chapter writes about the enlightenmentof the practice of Wu including the fusion of Chinese and Western painting oncontemporary painting in China. It’s important to explore new forms of language,and connect various art forms, China lacks of the learned artists like Mr. WuGuanzhong.The purpose of this paper is through the research and analysis of variousexploration of Mr. Wu Guanzhong in the oil painting with the fusion of Chineseand Western art, to show the viewpoint that painting depends on the real feelings ofthe artists. We should be more and more learned, connecting various art forms andlanguages.
