"The Analects" Words And Cultural Studies

Language is a product of society, the vocabulary of language is the mostsensitive to the variety of changes. Language by itself is a cultural phenomenon.As a very important literature of the Warring States period, the languagevocabulary used in ‘The Analects of Confucius’ reflects the develop situation ofthe social history at the time. Therefore, it is significantly important to theresearches on the history of Chinese vocabulary and Chinese cultural to study thevocabulary and cultural of ‘The Analects of Confucius’.The content of ‘The Analects of Confucius’ is all-inclusive, covering all social life aspects such as political, economic, cultural, educational, ideological, ethical and so on. In this paper, taking the economic vocabulary as an example, the vocabulary and cultural of ‘The Analects of Confucius’ were studied. The main contents of this paper include the following components:The first part is the introduction. As one of the Confucian classics,‘The Analects of Confucius’ is a master of Confucianism, the vocabulary used in the book is very rich, and the whole book is a reflection of social life in the late spring. By combining the vocabulary and culture and conducting comprehensive and detailed study on the economic vocabulary of ‘TheAnalects of Confucius’, it is of important significance to understand of thestatus of social development at that time and it also ushers in a new view for the research of ‘The Analects of Confucius’. The part of introduction mainly introduces Confucius’s experience and life, the historical background and research status of ‘The Analects of Confucius’, and the research method and significance of vocabulary and culture in ‘The Analects of Confucius’.The second part is the economic vocabulary research of ‘The Analects ofConfucius’. The emergence and development of language, which is a product of society, is inseparable from society and language develops with the developmentof society. At the end of Spring and Autumn Period, the biggest feature ofsocio-economic is the development change of production relationship andproductivity. In this section, by collating the economic vocabulary of ‘TheAnalects of Confucius’, the vocabulary is classified into the agriculturalvocabulary, handicraft industry vocabulary and business vocabulary, and all thethree parts are defined and analyzed, respectively. The study found that "TheAnalects of Confucius" economic vocabulary does reflect the liberation anddevelopment of productive forces salient features of this period of great change.The third part is the inheritance and development of economic vocabulary in‘The Analects Confucius’. By the study of the second part, it can be concludedthat the economic vocabulary of ‘The Analects of Confucius’ reflects fourlanguage development features by itself: Firstly, there are a large number ofinherited vocabulary before Spring; secondly, among the inherited vocabulary,there are many words that added new meanings and had extended meaning, so themeaning expression is much richer and more detailed; thirdly, many economicvocabulary of ‘The Analects of Confucius’ are newly generated during this period,and are followed by future generations; fourthly, among the newwords,Polysyllabic words account for a larger proportion than Monosyllablewords. Besides, among the Polysyllabic words, Mixture of Polysyllabic wordsaccount for a larger proportion than Pure Monosyllable words.The fourth part is the conclusion. The content of ‘The Analects of Confucius’is all-inclusive, covering all social life aspects. And the whole book is a reflectionof social life in the late spring. It is an innovative thought to combine the researchof language and culture. The vocabulary and cultural studies of ‘The Analects ofConfucius’ not only are pioneering, but also have significant importance to theresearch of Chinese Lexical History and Cultural History of China.
