Values, being put forward in view of value evaluation and value selection, are the basic ideas about value manifested as attitudes, principles, position, requirements and so on. As an important part of the ideology, values are the basis and moral premise of the political system, cultural system and a series of specific systems. Values belong to the scope of consciousness, with the development of human society. Values develop and advance continuously from a Hundred Schools of thought contend during Spring and Autumn and the warring states periods to the May Fourth movements, from religious reform during the middle ages in Western to the signed of "The Declaration of Independence" in the United States in1776, according to the human rights principles, which was called "freedom, democracy, equality, fraternity". In theory, the issue of values is the central question of philosophy as well as the central tasks of Marxist philosophy, which is to explain the major issues that individual and collection of a class of people how to make its valuable by activities in the world. From a practical point of view, the Chinese Communist Party has always attached great importance to the construction of values. Our understanding of the core values of socialism has been improved to a new level from the Sixth Plenary Session of its Sixteenth Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party to the eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The content of socialism core values is rich increased by new details such as Prosperous, democratic, civilized, harmonious, and advocate freedom, equality, justice, the rule of law, promoting patriotism, dedication, integrity, kindness. The creation of the socialism core values is not only related to the survival of the party, but also related to the success of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.This article consists of six parts, including the introduction, four chapters and the conclusion. The four chapters, as the main part of this article, can be divided into three sections.The first section, namely Chapter One, is about values and core values. Emphasizing on expounding Marxist understanding and definition of value and core values, this section provides theoretical foundation for the whole thesis. The sense of value is to meet the needs, which belongs to the scope of the relationship between subject and object. Core values, belonging to the category of consciousness, show human beings’understanding and can be judged as right or wrong. This thesis summarizes that correct core values must have the following basic characteristics:understand the modern era correctly, reflect humanistic concern and spirit, and win majorities’ support and agreement.The second section, including Chapter Two to Chapter Three, is a study on the history how China’s core values develop. This section summarizes the evolution that China’s traditional core values become socialist core values, especially during three transitions:from the slave society to feudal society, from feudal society to a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, and from a new democratic society to a socialist society. This thesis claims that we should insist on using dialectical materialist and historical materialist opinions and methods, and try to balance our point of views between historical experience and logical thoughts. Plus mastering the development rules and characteristics of Chinese core values, we can seek for the logical starting point and useful historical experience to build the socialist core values in this modern era.The third section, Chapter Four, is about the construction of socialist core values in the new era. This thesis illustrates current problems as well as what difficulties and challenges China is facing now during structuring its core values, from a globalization perspective. It’s clearly that building socialist core values is urgent, necessary and meaningful. We should absorb the spirit of the18th National Congress of CPC, and apply all theories and understanding to our practice, in order to actively explore and find out the practical path to build China’s socialist core values. All these should be based on four aspects, which are to grasp the basic connotation, enrich its basic form,This thesis aims to find out practical approaches for achieving socialist core values in the modern era, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. It demonstrates the evolution of socialist core values through various historical periods of China, clarifies the rules and characteristics of Chinese core values during its evolution process, and also analyzes the current situation of socialist core values’development in China.
