Urban public art is a kind of art, which is based on the needs of the city itself thefunctions, and the connotations, it is located in public places of the city. It can also beunderstood as a long-term implantation of works of art in public places. Digital citypublic art is also a kind of city public art that refers to the introduction of digitaltechnology or other high-tech content, such as introducing virtual expression ofmodern urban public art, with the aid of computer control to realize a certaininteractive function of the city’s public art, etc. With the application andpopularization of new media technology, the new art form is increasingly applied inthe creation of contemporary public art pieces, presenting a trend of “digital”,“high-tech”,and plays a more important role in future urban public art development.It is different from traditional single “in style” sculptures, murals and other publicworks of art, in the field of contemporary public art,the intervention of newtechnologies and new media makes the form of works more colorful. Such as powerand light sculpture, sound sculpture, holographic, virtual reality, interactive art, etc.This paper explores the holographic a new projection technology used incontemporary public art. Public art forms are more flexible, conveying the new powerof public art making it become dynamic, involving new forms of multidimensionalspace, creating completely new exhibition spaces and even art forms.
