| In contemporary China, the ever updating scientific technologies and ever-rising living standard of people have given rise to increasing demand for innovative talents in various social sectors. Aiming to meet the demand of the talent market thus increasing the employment rate of the graduates, some universities have focused too much on professional skills instead of artistic attainment. However, professional skills do not allow the students to distinguish between right and wrong, nor do they teach the students however to conduct themselves, as liberal arts are essential for shaping the students’ understanding of the society and their values. It therefore is imperative to enhance liberal arts education and cultivate an artistic atmosphere in the universities, underlining public art education in improving liberal art education in the universities.Whereas public art education in universities based on digital interactive designs has still been under exploration in China, with scarce research and practice in this area. Based on the theories and characteristics of public art education in universities and the theories and advantages of digital interactive designs, this paper, relying on a preliminary practical investigation, addresses the feasibility and necessity of applying digital interactive designs to public art education in universities, and also probes into the practice.Providing solutions to the problems that were impossible to solve, digital interactive technologies will bring about a range of major reforms to public art education in universities. It would be more persuasive to experience in person than to lecture simply based on abstract theories, as there is essential difference between active engagement and passive exposure. Digital interactions would give students pleasure in the process of learning, motivating them to take active part in study and discussion, which is important for creating aspiration among the students and improving the education quality in general. |
