BoShichen(1775—1855) was a scholar,calligrapher and calligrapher theorist inQing dynasty.he had experienced Qianlong, Jiaqing, Emperor Daoguang, Xianfengfour dynasties. He was very knowledgeable and had written a lot of books,whichconcluded the great works of “Yi Zhou Shuang Ji” on calligraphic ideas. In thisbook,He was able to connect with the perspective of the development of Chinesecalligraphy, systematically reflect the development of calligraphy style,in every ageand discussed the calligraphic ideas and creative skills from the practice.According toanalyze Bao ShiChen’s calligraphy works systematically and carefully,the article is tounderstand and interpret his calligraphy views and ideas, and evaluate his attitudeand aesthetic standard about calligraphy.This paper divides into3parts of introduction, text and conclusion.The introduction part mainly analyze the BaoShiChen’s calligraphy and theresearch status of evaluation, and make the relevant literature review.The text is divided into four chapters: the first chapter analyses Bao ShiChen’slife experience and academic background, understand the origin of his calligraphyviews and ideas comprehensively,so as to analyze the reasons and basis about thecalligraphy evaluation system; The second chapter describes and explains thetheories of predecessors’ calligraphy evaluation model,clarify Bao ShiChen’sinnovation on the basis of predecessors’ calligraphy evaluation model;The thirdchapter explains the calligraphy evaluation system from the aesthetic standard, thestructure of the evaluation and the calligraphy history, and find the profound ideas ofcalligraphy which is connected with Bao ShiChen’s relevant materials;The fourthchapter discusses the value,influence and its theoretical defects of the calligraphyevaluation.The conclusion part explains the influence of Bao ShiChen’s calligraphyevaluation system on the development of contemporary calligraphy.
