Yunnan Jade Redesign

The development of Yunnan jade carving has a fairly long history. Jade carvingcraft has been regarded as a kind of intangible cultural heritage, which needs theprotection and inheritance of the people. But a large number of field researchesshow that the current Yunnan jade carving, confronted with such problems as theincreasing depletion of raw materials and consumers’ demand for aestheticimprovement, has repeated the same patterns of design mechanically and does notreflect its unique charm. The main reason is the lack of Yunnan jade carving design.This lack of design in the course of time will make consumers lose confidence inYunnan jade carving and finally influence the development of Yunnan jade carving.Combined with Yunnan local characteristics and advantages, this paper intends tofind some means and ways to innovate jade carving design and explores some new ideasfor the development of jade carving craft in the redesign practice of Yunnan jadecarving. Thus, through the redesign of Yunnan jade carving, Jade carving designcan create new visual images and meet the needs of the times.
