In recent years,under the highly attention and guidance of MouDing countygovernment,MouDing left-foot dance, which has thousands of years cultural history,changing and developing in long history,has gradually developed from the grass-rootsculture toward the modern culture; with its development,MouDing was honored as “TheHometown of Left-Foot Dance”.Because of this,a series of cultural industries whichrelated to the left-foot dance,such as MouDing folk music instrument stores and nationaldress stores, obtain the unprecedented development. What is even more important is thatMouDing left-foot dance has been regarded as “the largest natural dance--a kind ofnational dance danced by thousands of people” by London Guinness Center.Besides,MouDing left-foot dance also took part in CCTV Young Singers contest. Throughlooking back the past30years’ inheritance and development of left-foot dance and doingfurther comparison and survey, the author finds that with the development of left-footdance,it is also facing some problems.The left-foot dance is spreading quickly in city butdisappearing gradually in folk society;The decrease of rural population and natural liveperformance taken placed by modern instrument,which makes folk artisan(singers andplayers) decrease gradually;The left-foot dance’s inheritance objects focus on the old andadult,but not young teenagers; among the young teenagers,“disconnection” and “break”appear;It is lack of principles of science during the process of left-foot dance’sexcavation,arrangement, reorganization and creation.The author thinks that people cannot treat the inheritance and the development ofleft-foot dance as the same. According to their protective measure,people should guideand encourage its inheritance and development with different kinds and levels. Based onthe problems that left-foot dance has faced and combined with the local truth,the authorthinks that the inheritance and development of MouDing left-foot dance should divide intofolk inheritance and non-folk inheritance to guide,to protect and to develop,that is tosay,firstly,from the point of folk inheritance, a village should set up national culture centerto hold national left-foot dance competition often;besides,the government should reasonably guide and encourage the inheritance and development of folk artists; secondly,from the point of non-folk inheritance,the government should write textbook and openleft-foot dance class in primary schools’ music class; the government should popularizenew type left-foot dance to spread it around the country; the government should arrangeand create a series of professional and academic art works which related to theinheritance and development of left-foot dance.Through analyzing these problems which the left-foot dance met and faced,discussingthe way to solve them, the author finally clarifies the points: firstly, for any national andtraditional culture,people should not just see the skin development but ignore the existedproblems in order to seek the “temporary success”; secondly, for the protection of nationaland traditional culture, people should not treat them as the same or find one solution tosolve all problems on protection,people should be based on local reality and naturalinheritance to do reasonable guidance and protection rather than inherit and develop itunder the“generalization” and “unitary form”.
