Manrice Ravel(1875-1937)is a great pianist, composer, orchestra masters in France inthe early twentieth Century. As the main representative character of impressionism music,Ravel put the painting of the impressionistic transfer to the music, and change the multi voicemusic sound and tone. Therefore, it can render the partly hidden and partly visible, mysteriousand hazy atmosphere. Ravel inherited the inheritance and innovation of attitude, so that hismusic has a more unique artistic effect. Genre works of Ravel covered include: vocal music,piano, opera and orchestral music etc. Among them, Works of Piano can best reflect embodythe style of characteristics and the main creative techniques of Impressionism harmony.This paper selects Jeux d’eau,(1901) and Miroirs (1905) which is composed offive songs as the object of study. The thesis consists of five chapters: The first chapter,Research on Ravel’s life and the social background of the creation of music. To analyze theFrench economic and political culture at that time, and use it as a basic research on Ravel andhis works. The second chapter, study on the background of Ravel’s style of impressionismmusic, the experience of Ravel’s music learning and the early piano music creation. The thirdchapter, specific analysis of the two works. At first, analysis of two works on the modearrangement, then, research from the musical form structure and theme design. The fourthchapter, the comprehensive analysis the two works in the harmonic techniques, Includinginterval, chord structure, harmony logical layout etc. The fifth chapter, the summary of musicstyle of Ravel.Summary of Ravel’s harmony techniques, unique harmony thinking and summing up hiswriting techniques, and it is used as the basis for understanding Ravel harmonic technique, soas to enhance the unique charm of impressionism music. A more clear understanding andcognition of harmonic sound techniques with the impressionist "color", and to provide somevaluable reference theory and logical view of learning for learners. It is helpful to exploremusic harmonic language in20th Century, especially, in order to provide more abundant andbroad harmony thinking space for impressionism harmony language.
