Chen Hengzhe "create Life" Consciousness Exploration

Sophia-Chen is a writer of early modern Chinese literature, who is good at writing in an objective and rational way. She is called "one of the earliest comrades" in literary revolution. Besides, she is also the first female professor of modern Chinese history of education. Her achievement in literature, history and social consciousness is groundbreaking, which demonstrates her consciousness on the basis of Chinese traditional Confucian system and the liberal consciousness on the basis of Western Comprehensive education. In this particular period, the significance of Sophia-Chen’s fate-making lies in the rational protests in crisis, making independent life and the belief of freedom.The consciousness of "Fate-making" is not only throughout the writer’s personal experience, but also be the essential factor of Sophia-Chen’s literature writing. One can make his own fate by the effort to receive a complete education and to be a scholar, and then realize the value in society, in community, and in the nation. This paper is written on the basis of text-reading and text-compared and it wills state in three aspects. It tries to explain the connotation and Epitaxial of fate-making, and the forming of the fate-making consciousness, also. In addition, it tries to probe the influence on Sophia-Chen’s writing. Combined with her writing on Independent Review analysis in the1930s, this paper shows Sophia-Chen the communication between her consciousness of fate-making and her focus on society and our country. Her enthusiasm about our country and rational way on solving problems is same as the liberal intellectual community based on independent review. Finally, the creation of the late Sophia-Chen journal observation, explained her silent protest at the groundbreaking and selective knowledge of women under the old and the new cultural conflict.In her final years, Sophia-Chen shows a new creation in the early literature and protest among the early Republic torrent liberal intellectuals made throughout the life of independence and freedom of belief.
