This study is based on the study of the unearthed materials of the excavation of Wenji site in Ye county in Pingdingshan of Henan in2006-2008with the methodology of archaeological stratigraphy and typology and the reference of materials from other sites to discuss the chronology and typology of the ceramic finds of Wenji site. This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part is a general introduction of the typical strata and relics of the excavation unit. Chapter2introduces the collated ceramics and performs a typological analysis of them. The ceramics unearthed in Wenji site are widely ranged, and therefore divided into six types by glaze color: white-glazed wares, black-glazed wares, green-glazed wares, Jun wares, wares with low-fired glaze and other wares. Each category has its own recounted subdivisions. Chapter3is a chronological study of the strata based on the results of the analysis of stratigraphy and topological study. With the general conclusion of characteristics of each period, the ages of the strata are concluded:Tang, Northern Song, Jin, Yuan. Chapter4is a conclusion of the chronology of Wenji wares according to the statistics of the glaze color, shape, and decoration of the unearthed wares. By comparing with other kiln sites, it can be deduced that most of the unearthed wares are products of mid-western Henan but rarely from outside. And through site exploration and X Ray Fluorescence, we can arrive at the conclusion that part of the wares of Wenji site are from Duandian site in Lushan and Qingliangsi site in Baofeng.
