On General Place Name In Henan Rural Area

General place name, which stands for the category of geographic entities, represents not an individual but of a class group. Therefore, general place name should be more unified than proper place name. but we should be aware that being unified doesn't mean few general place name,for the reason that few general place name-Cun Zhuang Tun can neither describe the aboundant regional and social feature nor the complex language actual.The paper is divided into three chapters, mainly analyzing general place name in Henan province under the context of standardization of place name:The first chapter which is about the counting of general place name in Henan is divided into two parts: the first is the counting of the last word of the main part of place name which has been cut out from Cun or Cun min wei yuan hui or something like that; the second is the counting of general place name on the basis of the counting of the last word of the main part of place name. And then divided it into four classes-The second chapter which is about common general place name is divided into four parts according to the first chapter. The first is about the abundant man-made general place name. According to analyzing it, we find that people are usually self-centered when they name a place. As a result, the man-made general place name has the largest number and is usually about agriculture, militia, worship, water conservancy and so on. The second is about the various geographical general place name. According to analyzing it, we find that the complex geography can be reflected by the colorful general place name. For that reason, the geographical general place name has the second largest number and is mainly about terrain, mountain, water and so on. The third part is about the general place name of settlement. According to analyzing it, we find that the general place name of settlement reflect the phenomenon that the same family always lives together for the reason of security, commerce and so on. Part four is about the general place name of the Administrative division legacy. thegeneral place name of the Administrative division legacy are usually related to barracks, capitals and other general administrative divisions legacy for the reason of dynasty change. Part five is about the names generic phenomenon of general place name. At this part, we mainly describe some general place name which instructs upper place, lower place and corners.The third chapter is about different writing and difficult word of general place name which reflects population migration phenomenon. For the different writing part, we describe “geda gudui hutuo” which are widely used. For the difficult word part, we describe “mar” which is evaluated to another word for the reason that it is not enlisted in the standardized word lists. In the end, we lists some other difficult word of place name.I hope this article will get a basic overview of general place name in Henan and contribute to its standardization.
