The discovery of unearthed Western gold and silver artifacts and coins in China is of great historical value, since they provide necessary material proofs for the study of the economical and cultural communication between the Western empire and ancient China, while their relative archaeological information is also important resource for the research on ancient China and Western Transportation.So far, In general, no comprehensive research has focused on the Western gold and silver artifacts and coins in China, it is still short of comprehensive, systemic and in-depth analyses on the artifacts and coins. Therefore, Collection, research them have very important academic value and practical significance. On this basis, combines historical materials and the existing research results, explore the meaning and impact of these Western gold and silver artifacts and coins as reflected in the East-West exchanges.Limited by knowledge and attention, In this paper, collected Western gold and silver artifacts and coins and related content during Pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty, which does not involve imitations, not to discuss other Western artifacts and which after the Song or Yuan Dynasty, While further explore the issue of cultural exchange at this period.This paper is divided into five parts to explain the characteristics about Western gold and silver artifacts and coins in China, and explored its geography channel. The first part is the preface, defined "the West"," Western artifacts in China ", reviewed previous studies related to Western gold and silver artifacts and coins, and described the research methods and significance. The second part discusses on Western gold and silver artifacts in China. Researched on shapes and variations of gold and silver artifacts, determined their western gold and silver artifacts system. Divided into Roman coins, Byzantine coins, Sassanian coins, Arab Empire coins, Kushan Empire coins, discussed their characteristics and application. The fourth part is to discuss the evolution of eastward "Gold and Silver Road" at the eastern order according to era.From the point of view artifacts, the western gold and silver artifacts and coins are come from the Desert Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road. From the point of view of the times, in Western Han Dynasty, the Maritime Silk Road is mainly. In Eastern Han Dynasty, the Maritime Silk Road and the Desert Silk Road is mainly. In Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Desert Silk Road, the Grassland Silk Road, the Maritime Silk Road is Prosperity. In Sui and Early Tang Dynasty, the Land Silk Road is developed. In Late Tang Dynasty, mainly rely on sea transport. The fifth part is the conclusion, pointed out the important practical significance of gold and silver in the road of cultural exchange. However, East-West economic and cultural implications are wide, trivial and messy information. Conclusions of this paper are limited one of the words, further in-depth study of the relationship with the Ancient China and West in the future.
