A Study On Xi Xia Dynasty Gold And Silver Wares From The Perspective Of Exchange, Communication And Integration

In the 190 years since the founding of the Xi Xia Dynasty,it has left a relatively rich gold and silver relics,which have high aesthetic and academic value.Xi Xia gold and silver wares is not only a carrier that reflects the actual situation of Xi Xia gold and silver craft production level and social life development,but also an important material for studying Xi Xia’s cultural identity with China and the formation and development of the Chinese national community during the Tang,Song,Liao,Xia and Jin periods.Based on the gold and silver archaeological excavated in Xi Xia,this paper is divided into three parts to study and discuss the gold and silver artifacts of Xi Xia from the perspective of ethnic exchange,communication and integration.Examining the Xi Xia gold and silver wares from the perspective of ethnic communication and integration is of great significance for us to fully understand that Xi Xia culture is an important part of Chinese culture,deeply understand the connotation of all ethnic groups to jointly create and share Chinese culture,and understand the important driving force for the formation and development of the Chinese national community in the history of communication and integration.Firstly,the archaeological distribution and excavated artifacts of Xi Xia gold and silver wares are re-sorted and the Xi Xia gold and silver ware are divided into five categories according to their use or nature:ornaments,eating utensils,living utensils,horse harnesses and funerary utensils,and the overall composition system of Xi Xia gold and silver ware is initially established.Secondly,it analyzes the ethnic exchange,communication and integration in the decorative patterns and production techniques of Xi Xia gold and silver wares.The decorative patterns of Xi Xia gold and silver ware mostly adopt the auspicious ornaments in the traditional culture of the Central Plains,and its production technology also widely absorbs the artistic style and advanced skills of Tang and Song Dynasty gold and silver wares,on the basis of inheriting the previous generation of ornaments and craftsmanship,integrating the ethnic and regional characteristics of Xi Xia to develop,create and innovate,and produce exquisite craftsmanship and exquisite shape of gold and silverware,forming a unique gold and silver ware culture.Finally,the social role of Xi Xia gold and silver ware is further explained.Xi Xia gold and silver ware,which symbolizes wealth and status,is not only widely used to reward subordinates and pay prices,but also serves as a medium for foreign exchanges and Buddhist beliefs,and its cultural and social functions are in the same vein as Tang and Song Dynasty gold and silver wares.In short,the decorative patterns,modeling characteristics,artistic styles and production techniques of Xi Xia gold and silver wares are influenced by the Tang and Song Dynasty cultures,surrounding ethnic cultures,Silk Road cultures and religious cultures,forming a Xi Xia gold and silver wares culture with multicultural characteristics,vividly showing the mutual learning between civilizations and the exchange and integration of culture and art among various ethnic groups.
