Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835) is a representative opera composer of EuropeanRomantic in19th century, he not only far-reachingly impacts on the development of opera inthe Romantic period, meanwhile, in the history of art song, he is also an indispensablemusician. The unique style of Bellini’s art songs, with beautiful melodies, is suitable for vocalteaching and concert singing. This article focuses on Bellini’s art songs; the next five chapterswill illustrate the creation of art songs. The first chapter introduces the background and thedevelopment of19th century Western art song, and then it reviews of the master pieces vocalmusic and art songs in his life time. Chapter II describes Bellini’s art songs from the lyrics,musical structure, music creation, features a general description. Chapter III analyses instancesof the five songs which further reveals the artistic value of Bellini’s art songs. Chapter IVcompares Bellini’s works of art songs and works of the same period of German and Austriancomposer and the Italian composer of art songs from the lyrics, and creative characteristic thefifth chapter discusses the grasp of the Bellini’s style of art songs and technical skills.III Arelatively small attention was paid to early stage of Romantic in Italian art songs, I hope thatthrough this study of Bellini’s art songs, whether it is in the level of the study or in practice, Iwill have a deeper understanding to all the Italian art songs and Bellini’s art songs and use ofvocal music teaching and performing.
