On the basis of the history of contemporary Western society in the1960s,1968is a critical point. Times before this point is full of frequent combat and the age of the completation of modern Western. Times after this point is full of group split and the age of post-modernity. Corresponds to the intellectual-especially the Western Marxist,1960s es a critical point. Times before this point is the age that intent to subvert the main excitement of revolution which build on the basis of the thinking of the distinguish of subject and object. Times after this point is the age that try to establish an equal dialogue platform which build on the basis of multiple subjects or subjectivity demision. Marcuse and Habermas, are two most representative thinkers of two times, progressive process between them, reflectes the double evolution both in theory and reality from one-dimension to multidimension.The Critical Theory of Frankfurt School pay close attention to social reality.It is include the modern crisis of the western capitalist society. The difference between Marcuse and Habermas is about the time partition. The integration of society is called by Marcuse is up to the student movement of1960s and1970s.However,the examine eyes of Habermas throughout the global multi-ethnic and polybasic society up to this day.In the viewpoint of Marcuse, the rise of technical rationality lead to the loss of critical rationality, so human change into One-Dimensional Man and an undifferentiated group. The solution of Marcuse about this problem is use critical rationality to compete technical rationality and lauch a revolution to change the social reality.Habermas is considered the crux of the problem is that the degradation of the public domain, so rebuilding the public domain and use communicative rationality characterized by intersubjectivity to replace technical rationality leading to a multidimensional rational society.The paper contains of three sections.In the first part,I use the "Paris May storm "as a starting point, through the changes in the field of social reality and ideology before and after the student movement to analysis the process of evolution from one-dimensional to multidimensional from the level of reality.In the second and third part, Marcuse and Habermas is selected as a representative figure, through comparing both the critique of modernity and social rehabilitation programs to analysis the process of evolution from one-dimensional to multidimensional from the theoretical level.
