On Official Morality And Contemporary Significance Of Confucius

As it is wide acknowledged that the history of China is also a history of Chinese ethics. Among all the traditional values in China, Confucius official morality outperformed the others with its continuing influences on the society since the period of Spring-Autumn and the Warring States. The historical evidences show that Confucius inherited the essence of traditional ethics and developed its profound thought on official morality in troubled times.In the light of solving social contradictions, maintaining the order of feudal society, saving the people from untold suffering and finally realizing the political goal of national wide stability and prosperity, Confucius put forward the thought of administrating the country for the people, with morality and benevolence, which are all the central ethics of official morality. As the development of the society and the deepening of administration system reformation, the official morality has witnessed increasingly importance in administrative sector. Therefore the study on official morality has become a hotspot nowadays.First of all, this thesis probes into the historical and social origins of official morality from the perspectives of time and space. Then, this thesis illustrates the core value system, practical ethics and realization mechanism of official morality. Furthermore, the author discusses about the features and its influences on Chinese traditional culture. Last but not least, through the close examination of official morality, it is found that the Confucius official morality still has its unique and precious value for the construction socialist culture, the development of harmonious society and the improvement of the Chinese communist party.
