A Study On Said Nursi’s Thought

Said Nursi, one of the important Islamic Renaissance thinkers. His masterpiece is Risale-i Nur kulliyati,especially Nur Movement is the mainstream of the Islamic Revival Movement in Turkey. The guidance and the core of Nur Movement is Risale-i Nur kulliyati not himself. Nur movement is different from the same period of other Muslim countries Islamic Revival Movement, the movement emphasizes personal faith construction, declined to participate in political activities directly, Some person call it cultural Islamic Movement or Faith Movement, Nur Movement profoundly affected the social process of Turkey. As the Gulen Movement is one branch of the Nur Movement, its influence beyond Turkey, towards to the world.It opens many Turkish schools in more than one hundred countries.Due to different understanding of the way of the Islamic Renaissance. There are cooperation and struggle between Nur Movement and Turkey’s domestic political Islamic Movement. The cooperation and struggle between The Gulen Movement and the Turkish AK Party is the best interpretation of the relationship. To understand the so-called "the Turkish model" in recent years, in addition to study Turkish mild political Islam and need to consider cultural Islamist Movement-Nur Movement. The thoughts of Said Nursi is the source of the Nur Movement. To study Nur thoughts is great significance for understanding Islamic Renaissance in the Middle East and contemporary politics in Turkey.The paper mainly consists of four parts.The first part is chapter one, mainly introduced Said Nursi’s life and background. According to Said Nursi’s thoughts of difference time background and his personal ideas, he can be divided into three stages,respectively is the end of the Ottoman empire, the old Said Nursi, one-party state period of the republic of Turkey, the new Said Nursi, and Turkey multiparty democratic period, the third Said Nursi. The second part namely chapter two, from the source of Said Nursi’s thoughts. To studied Said Nursi’s thoughts of the main idea are from response of the western political thought and the western civilization and spirit jihadist ideology. The third part is chapter three, this chapter manly analyses the development and division of Nur Movement and the relationship between the political Islamic Movement, organized and Nur movement’s problems and weaknesses.The fourth part is the conclusion of this paper, to compare the Nur Movement and the Islamic Renaissance in other countries, summed up the thought and the movement characteristics of Nur Movement. It analyzed to the Turkish model and the influence of the Islamic World.
