In the development of American history, the Negro Problem has been long-existed. Since the civil war, the slavery has been abolished, but the racial discrimination and segregation still exist, the black were always treated unfairly by Federal government and the White society in economy, culture and education, which lead to their low social status, let alone the acquisition of African’s political participation. After World War Ⅱ, the situation of blacks were getting worse, the black civil rights movement was initiated eventually in the20th century. The victory of the struggle makes the blacks get the right to vote, become involved in politics, with the strength and growth of the black middle class, the increasing number of the blacks political participation, then political participation gradually developed. The thesis mainly explore the real situation of Africans from different aspects, which along with the process of getting civil rights as well as ways. Finally, we can concluded that there has positive aspects of African participation in politics, however, American racial discrimination and unfair treatment still exist. The Afro-American political right has’t really improved. What’s more, the Afro-American needs a long and arduous way to go before they gain their legal status and rights in politics thoroughly.
