"Moral education returning to life" has reached a considerable recognition by the theorists, the key lies in the moral education should return to what kind of life? How to return to life? Since the problem comes from life, we should find the answer from it. As the highest representative of the Chinese traditional festival, Spring Festival is a showcase of people’s material and spiritual life, which provides a suitable living space and time line for the moral education returning to life. This paper takes "moral education function of the Spring Festival" as the study subject, which tries to look for the moral education resources and the pathway in the process of continuing the modern life of the traditional Spring Festival and think about how to make the youth have a happy、peaceful and meaningful Spring Festival from the perspective of moral education. So this paper has certain theory value and practical significance in strengthening moral education and carrying forward the traditional culture.In general, this paper carries out its question and demands by the main thread: realistic analysis-theoretical explore-the solution, both theoretically and practically.Based on the traditional Chinese Spring Festival, this paper traces the origin, change, content and characteristics of the traditional Spring Festival, in order to found the basis of its moral education function, then summarizes its moral education function for adolescents:individual spirit baptism, cultivation of family ethics, social ethics education, enhancement of the national identity, ecological ethics education, and so on.In the modern context, as the Spring Festival’s atmosphere fading, its moral education function is weakening. The paper takes the ancient city of Anyang which located in northern Henan province as the study case, analyzes the current Spring Festival’s weaking moral education function in terms of individual experience, family education, social enlightenment, national emotion and ecological ethics through the survey of the local people, especially teenagers’cognition participation and evaluation of the Spring Festival, and looks for reasons from aspects of the youth individual, family, school,and society.In order to take the Spring Festival as the carrier and play its moral education role effectively, the resultant force and an organic whole strength from family education, school education, social education and teenagers’cultural consciousness is needed.
