Research On The Meaning Characteristics And Interpretation Of Accusation And Punishment Name In The Essential Series Of Dictionary Of Law

Many scholars have studied legal word from ancient legal word, however, thereis a little research on modern legal word. This paper based on the results of thepredecessors, taking accusation and punishment name in the Essential Series ofDictionary of Law as study object. And following semantic system theory, this paperanalyzes the characteristics of legal word hierarchically with componential analysis inthe natural context, compares semantic system of legal word with its definition in theEssential Series of Dictionary of Law, generalizes the characteristics of legal word,analyzes its definition in the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary of the sixth edition,summarizes the discipline of legal word entering into Chinese dictionary in collectingwords, selecting characteristics and definition. This paper consists five parts.The introduction part mainly explains the development process of the currentcriminal law of our country, the research value of this article, the research presentsituation, the content and the train of thought, the theoretical method.Chapter one analyzes accusation semantic system of the crime infringing citizenpersonal rights and democratic rights. According to the regulations of The People’sRepublic of China Criminal Law, twenty-one accusations belong to this semanticsystem. Firstly, analyzing these accusations semantic system with componentialanalysis method in the natural context cases, we can see the hierarchicalcharacteristics inside the word meaning clearly. Then, this chapter analyzes thedefinition of these accusations in the Essential Series of Dictionary of Law. Finally,this chapter summarizes characteristics of these accusations in designing words andthe motivation of words formation.Chapter two analyzes punishment name semantic system of the crime infringingcitizen personal rights and democratic rights. According to the regulations of ThePeople’s Republic of China Criminal Law and cases, there are nine punishment namesin this semantic system. Firstly, analyzing semantic system of these punishmentnames, we can obtain the word meaning characteristics and hierarchy. Then, thischapter analyzes the definition of these punishment names in the Essential Series of Dictionary of Law. Finally, summarizes characteristics of these punishment names indesigning words, the motivation of words formation and the corresponding degreewith accusations.Chapter three tries to discuss the discipline of legal word entering intoChinese dictionary. It analyzes the definition of these twenty-one accusations and ninepunishment names in the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary of the sixth edition,which are discussed in the first two chapters. According to the characteristics of theselegal words, this chapter summarizes the discipline of them entering into Chinesedictionary in collecting words, selecting characteristics and definition.The conclusion part summarizes the content of this article.
