A Study Of The Problem Of Migrant Wages In China

With the constant deepening of reform and opening-up and the advancement of agricultural modernization, urbanization, industrialization in our country,migrant workers came into being,continued growing and had become a new type of labor force during the new period of socialism with Chinese characteristics.They not only promoted the process of agricultural modernization in our country, but also made outstanding contributions to China’s economic modernization,urban modernization and internationalization and the modernization in the countryside.Thus, the living condition and development of migrant workers have become an important part of China’s building a well-off society in an all-round way which are also a vital way of achieving the goal of building new socialist countrysides with Chinese characteristics.In recent years, a new generation of leaders of our country have attached great importance to the issues of migrant workers,policies and measures have been taken in order to safeguard legitimate rights and interests of migrant workers, to protect their vital interests, and to improve the working environment and living conditions of migrant workers and an overall plan has been made across the country as well. Remarkable achievement has been made.But the problems of migrant workers is still serious in today’s society among which the wage is the most crucial one.This problem is directly related to the national economy and the construction of a harmonious society of our county. We must stand in the height of building a modern socialist country which is rich and strong, democratic, civilized and harmonious, and have a profound understanding of the significance,necessity and persistence of solving the problem of migrant wages.Wage theory is to explain the level of workers’ wage and its changes during a certain period of time and the general rules of different wage level among different laborer groups. As for foreign wage theory, Marx’s wage theory is the most classic.Marx to the market wage formation and the market mechanism is very insightful among his theories.The migrant workers are a pretty big team, along with the increasing number of migrant workers,the issue of migrant workers is becoming more and more prominent. Foreign and domestic scholars are making some deep researches on this problem increasingly. In terms of domestic research, research contents mainly includes the following aspects:the living conditions of migrant workers, the quality of their life, employment, social security, wages, the consumption concept, the urban adaptability among which research mainly focus on the problem of migrant workers wages. However, research exploring this issue from the perspective of Marx’s labor theory of value and theory of wages is not so much, they are some scattered point of view which neither make a comprehensive and systematic discussion on the question of wages nor from the aspect of China’s migrant wages decision, formation, regulation and supervision mechanism, etc.The novelty of this paper is that it digs out the cause of China’s migrant workers wages which is generally existing problems basing on Marx labor theory of value and the wage theory and the35th anniversary of reform and opening to the outside in the new stage and in the new period, and through exploring the quality of life and living condition of rural labors,and that it also comprehensively and systematically discusses the issues of migrant workers wages from the aspect of China’s migrant wages decision, formation, regulation and supervision mechanism, etc.This paper is divided into six parts, the first part mainly introduces the research background, purpose and significance and the study of scholars’view at home and abroad on migrant workers wages and salary theory.The second part mainly expounds the theoretical basis of this article, that is Marx’s labor theory of value and the explanation of the concept. The third part focuses on elaborating on the labor forces value of migrant workers on a basis of the application of Marx’s labor value theory, and combined with the characteristics of migrant workers in China.Finally, it discusses overall changes in the wages of migrant workers.The fourth part carries on a detailed analysis of main problems of China’s migrant worker wages in the current stage and profoundly analyzes the causes of this problem by using data of the questionnaire and charts. The Fifth part puts forward a few proposal to solve this problem through studying these aspects,such as migrant workers wage decision, formation, regulation,supervision mechanism.The sixth part generalizes the main conclusions of this paper summarizes the prospects of migrant workers wages issues, and briefly points out the deficiencies in this paper.
