Study On Legislation To Protect The Rights Of Chinese Readers To The Local Library

Readers’ rights is one of the human rights that is accepted all around the world.Many countries have legislations to protect readers’ rights. Recent years, people putincreasing attention and emphasis on the issue of readers’ rights protection. There is aclose connection between readers’ rights protection and library legislative constructions.As citizens are more aware of their rights, the calls of protecting readers’ rights by legalmeans are louder and louder. Since there is no Library Law made by National People’sCongress, the being and application of local library legislatios is undoubtedly a greatmilestone for the legislative library and a better protection of readers’ rights. With theobject of local library legislations in our country, this dissertation is to study the issue ofreaders’rights protection on the ground of detailed researches and summaries of relatedproducts. This dissertation introduces current situations of fourteen existed local librarylegislations in our country, and makes a thorough analysis of it from multipleperspectives. It also puts forward its own understadnding of reader’s rights on the basisof our country’s legislations and the definitions from authoritative learners. By studyingthe different local library legislations about reader’s rights, this dissertation points outtheir advantages and disadvantages and puts forward pieces of suggestions accordingly.It is intended to improve existed library legislations in our country and providetheoretical assisstance for further legislation. The significance of this dissertation lies inpromoting the development of our country’s library carrer and protecting readers’ rightsmore thoroughly.
