Recently, mathematical thinking has been paid more attention in the teaching procedure. As one of powerful mathematical teaching methods, Symbolic-Graphic Combination Method is included in the mathematics knowledge. It combines two main ideas-quantities and graphic plots-in junior high school perfectly. Applying symbolic-Graphic Combination Method is helpful for student to extend their train of thought for mathematics. This thesis analyzes students’psychological characteristic during learning mathematics firstly, and from two sides,"solving quantities based on graphic plots" and "solving graphic plots based on quantities", to analyze the effect of symbolic-graphic methods applied in mathematics teaching. This paper is divided into six chapters, as follows:There are five parts included in this thesis:Chapter one:Introduction. In this part, the author introduces the aim and meanings of this topic, the ongoing results and innovation of this research home and abroad.Chapter two:The overview of the symbolic-graphic combination method. At first, defining the relevant concepts in the thesis;Secondly, introducing the historic developing procedure of symbolic-graphic combination method; Thirdly, By analyzing the psychologist characteristics of students in junior high school during they are learning mathematics, and the psychologist mechanism generated by symbolic-graphic combination method, we can understand the psychologist characteristics of students when they use this method to solve the problems, and prepare sufficiently for the mathematics teaching.In the end, appreciating the beauty of integration and concision included in this method based on aesthetics of mathematics principal.Chapter three:Tactics of teaching using symbolic-graphic combination method. Based on the related theories in Chapter3and "2011GuoPei plan" questionnaires about current situation of symbolic-graphic combination from junior high school teachers, this thesis proposes four tactics of teaching using symbolic-graphic combination, and adding a case in Appendix.Chapter four:The application of SGCM(symbolic-graphic combination Method) in solving mathematics problem in junior high school. Classify the problem into two cases:solving graph based on quantity&solving quantity based on graph and analyze them respectively, to feel the beauty of union by utilizing the advantages of quantity and graph.Chapter five:Some revelation based on the analysis of application and research of SGCM in junior high school.Firstly, in the process of teaching, the teacher should show the beauty of the mathematics to the students, to let them feel the beauty of union and conciseness.Secondly, there are two aspects of teaching:teaching and learning. So the research of application of SGCM in teaching should be based on the analysis of the psychological characteristics of students. Thirdly, subliming the SGCM as one thought, abide by the idea of imperceptible influence to culture the instinct of student that reflecting quantity as seeing graph and reflecting graph as seeing quantity.Fourthly, the application of SGCM in mathematics is mainly applied in solving problem. The teachers should be good at classifying the problems and at simplifying the complex ones, to help student avoid large number of homework exercises. And at the same time, guiding the students to pay more attention to transformation between quantity and graph and encouraging the students to solve the problem with the help of graph.
