It is acknowledged that basic knowledge and skills have been paid much attention to in China, which has close relationship with the application of variation pedagogy in mathematics by teachers.Variation pedagogy is one of the most effective methods of improving learning results, and at the same time it can cultivate students’ innovation and their cognitive abilities. Although the teaching reference is developing gradually at present, the research of variation is relatively less. Therefore the significances of variation pedagogy may not take effect completely in classroom with the training of solving problems. Many teachers are not able to understand variation pedagogy deeply as a result of the sea tactical exercises becoming the only measure to improve learning results, which is the misunderstanding of Chinese education.In recent years, a new curriculum has reformed in our country and quality oriented education has been advocated strongly. It is important for teachers to change their previous thought of exam oriented and research variation pedagogy deeply. Based on research status at home and abroad and the practical teaching experience, the author analyzes some teaching cases and explores the quote of variation pedagogy in mathematic in senior high school.This paper raises questions firstly, and then elaborates the purposes and significances of variation in mathematics, illustrates the research achievement at home and abroad, as well as the innovative points. Moreover, the author puts forward the concepts of variant teaching, mathematics variation and mathematics variation teaching, expounding the related theories of mathematics variation teaching. Also the conceptual and procedural mathematics variation are explained on notional, principle and strategical aspects with the analysis of teaching case studies, in hope of supplying some references for teachers. Lastly, this paper makes a thorough inquiry of several problems that need to be paid attention to in actual teaching, and some reflections and prospects from mathematics variation.
