Abstract:"Learning by Doing" science education is advocated and promoted by Chinese Ministry of Education and Science Association under the background of quality-oriented education of our country, whieh is launched in the kindergartens and primary schools. Based on the hands-on inquiry,"Learning by Doing" aims at improving the level of science education in the kindergartens and primary schools, promoting the children’s scientific modes of thinking and life styles. It stems from HANDS-ON in the U.S.A and "LA MAIN A LA PATE" in France, and was named "Learning by Doing" after being introduced into China in2001. Extensive practice has shown that "Learning by Doing" science education not only promoted science curriculum reform, but upgraded the learning and teaching beliefs and styles in kindergartens and primary schools, infused vitality into the fundamental education curriculum reformation. Nowadays,"Learning by Doing" is still at the experiment and popularize stage in our country. It has realistic pertinence to carry a systematic research on the theoretical foundation and strategy preference of "Learning by Doing".Based on above, this paper took an overall investigation into "Learning by Doing", made every effort to tentatively construct the macroscopic theory frame of "Learning by Doing" on the basis of research results, summarized the achievement and existing problems over the past four years’of experiment, and put forward the tactics of "Learning by Doing". To improve the actual effect of "Learning by Doing" science education, the author expect the thesis will contribute to promoting the localization construction of "Learning by Doing" and making it develop in our country in a healthy way continuously.The paper is composed of five parts. In the foreword, the background of the research into "Learning by Doing" is introduced. After stating the domestic and international research actualities, the author defined the significance of the thesis. In the second part, the basic conception and the essential feature of "Learning by Doing" are discussed, and the theoretical foundations are interpreted. In the third part, on the basis of inheriting the research achievements of the predecessors, combining the teaching cases, the author analyses the teaching objective, teaching content, teaching process, teaching principle and teaching assessment of "Learning by Doing", probes into the application in actual teaching. In the fourth part, the author investigated the situation of "Learning by Doing" of our country, summarizes its effect and deficiency, puts forward some implementation tactics that can be operated out in view of the above. The last part summarizes the full paper and proposes some directions and suggestions to the follow-up research on "Learning by Doing".
