On the basis of consulting a large number of document literature, this paper puts teachers, experts and students from eleven universities of Shandong province as research objects. By using many methods such as questionnaire, interviewing experts mathematical statistics and experimental methodology, this paper analyses the status of orientation movement in universities of Shandong province and finds out the restraining factors which influence the developing of orientation movement in Shandong universities, to provide theoretical basis for further developing orientation movement. The results of this research indicate that:1. The addition of orientation movement to sport course in university reflects the modern education philosophy and corresponds with the tendency of sport course reformation in universities.2. According to the investigation, we find that orientation movement in Shandong universities is not popular and the form of this movement is sole. This should be our focus of applying and developing this movement in future.3. College teachers who are engaged in orientation movement in Shandong province have little chance to join in the systematic training. This phenomenon becomes a great hinder for developing and applying of this movement in college courses.4. Through the investigation, it is found that students have strong interests and awareness about orientation movement, which is benefit for the development of this movement.5. The disunity of teaching material and the restriction of mapping should be our emphasized content.Based on the above problems, this article suggests as follows:1. Adding the chances of training to teachers.2.Adding advertisement and matches.3.Strengthening the development and applying of teaching materials.4.Attracting leaders’more attention and support5.Adding more budgets. 6.Strengthening resource sharing of maps7.Developing the clubs of orientation movement.
